divine timing: solar eclipse in gemini + mars in leo

We are officially in the last few days of Gemini season. In less than two weeks the Sun will transition into the sensitive sign of Cancer. These last few weeks have been jam-packed with tons of mentally stimulating and emotionally charged energy. Some of us might have been left feeling exhausted with all the air and water influence. Right now the moon is in Taurus for a few more hours, giving us a well-needed break to slow down and relax. We all deserve a moment to breathe and do a bit of grounding. Spend some time in nature, unwind with some sensual music, and then have a nice warm shower to wash some of the stress away.

Later today, the moon will be back Gemini sending shockwaves through our system. This will not be your typical slightly chaotic Gemini moon, it will be a New Moon/ Solar Eclipse. A solar eclipse brings new beginnings, new adventures, and new challenges into our lives. This comes just a few weeks after the lunar eclipse in Sagittarius. The lunar eclipse is known for bringing abrupt and sudden changes into our lives. A lunar eclipse takes something out of our lives and makes space as the following solar eclipse will bring us something new.

This eclipse season focused on the Gemini-Sagittarius axis. Gemini is all about the logical mind and tangible knowledge while Sagittarius focuses on higher knowledge and moral truths. The Sagittarius eclipse closed the door on outdated beliefs we might have once held as true. With age and lived experience we now know better and continue to move forward in better alignment with our higher self. The Gemini solar eclipse will open the door to new ideas, new people, and new ways of thinking. We will be reworking our personal ethos, discovering new forms of support, and see a redistribution of energy.

Depending on where Gemini is in your chart, that will determine what part of your life will be affected. Using myself as an example: I am a Gemini sun and moon with both planets in my 7th house. With the 7th house being the house of partnerships, marriage, 1:1 relationships, legal matters, and open enemies I will be experiencing a shift when it comes to my identity and my connection to others. Some of these could include: ❤meeting someone new ❤breakthroughs in relationships & ❤new insights on who I am from the perspective of another.

As the sun rules the ego, I will also be viewing this solar eclipse from the perspective of Gemini in the 1st house. The 1st house rules your appearance, first impressions, identity, self-awareness, personality, and overall outer expression. With these ideas in mind, I will have new perspectives on ❤who I am ❤my sense of self ❤my appearance  ❤better controlling my life  &  ❤where am I going in my life.

This new mental clarity will be compounded with Mars entering Leo. Mars has been in Cancer since May 11th and has had some of us feeling like we were underwater. I explained a few weeks ago that Mars does not like being in Cancer as it is sensitive and has a hard time expressing itself in Cancer. This will be a more comfortable placement because Mars functions best in the fire signs -Aries, Leo & Sagittarius.

I have a natal Mars in Leo in the 8th house of transformation, so this would mean I am going to have a very intense Mars return. I can speak for myself when I say we are all in desperate need of some enthusiasm, drama, and ferocity! This will help a lot of us come out of our shells and help us move like we are the main character. Those of us with a natal Mars in Leo move with confidence in our natural abilities and are strong-willed when it comes to our convictions. The Mars transit will give a boost of bravery and passion igniting the fire that the solar eclipse will impose upon us. We will be marching towards dreams and desires in confidence.

Some themes of Mars in Leo include 🦁 drama  🦁action  🦁passion  🦁children  🦁creation 🦁egocentrism 🦁creative flair 🦁mellow drama & 🦁a fiery temperament.

As with any placement, these themes could be manifested in both positive and negative ways. On the positive end, we could see an increase in drive and a need for creative expression, taking some of our passion projects to new heights. There is will be a much bigger emphasis on play and letting the inner child take control.  On the negative end, we could become more self-centered and overtly egocentric, becoming fixed on our wants without any regard for others.

The key is to find balance and stay grounded in all this supercharged energy. We should be mindful of our tendency to overestimate our abilities and over-romanticizing our wants. Mercury is still Rx in Gemini, Venus is in the easily triggered Cancer, Jupiter is feeling euphoric but slightly delusional in Pisces, and now Mars is in the highly confident and bold Leo. We can be convinced of our projections instead of facing reality.

If there is one this the universe wants from us, it is to get back on our bullshit. We should let our minds and hearts be open to receiving the divine gifts that will soon be bestowed upon us! We have released was no longer working, and worked through accepting our losses. Now it's time to allow beautiful & bountiful blessings to come in. The effects of the eclipse can be felt up to six months after the event, so surrender to the divine and let God do the rest. Be patient with yourself because every seed you planted in the first half of the year will steadily begin to blossom as the year progresses.

come live with me angel: venus in cancer 👼

In my last post, I discussed some of the astrological happenings of June. I touched on Mercury Rx in Gemini, Venus in Gemini, Mars in Cancer, and Jupiter in Pisces. Beginning early this week, there will be a bit of change going on in terms of planetary placements.

From June 2nd until June 27th, Venus will be entering the psychic and empathic sign of Cancer. This will be a more comfortable placement for Venus as it is more of a feeler than a thinker.

Venus also rules women, and Cancer is one of the most feminine signs. Ruled by the moon, Cancer represents the mother, the family dynamic, home life, ancestral roots, and race. When Venus is in Cancer, think of it as a 'Divine Feminine' placement.

The following day on June 3rd, Jupiter in Pisces will trine Venus in Cancer. This will be a positive transit as not only are these planets very comfortable in their current positions, but they are exalted when reserved. Venus is exalted in Pisces, and Jupiter is exalted in Cancer. Love, beauty, creativity, close bonds, and romantic connection are themes for this transit. If there was a time to be sociable and get dressed up for a celebration, it is now.

With my natal Mercury in Cancer, Cancer intercepted in my 7th House, and the transiting Venus conjunct my sun and moon, it has me feeling quite loving and artistically influenced. If you have Cancer as your sun, moon, rising, or Venus, you will truly appreciate the very comfortable beauty of this transit.

Venus in Cancer themes:

💖family

💖children

💖traditions

💖nurturing

 💖commitment

    💖beautiful homes

💖peace and quite

💖private romance

💖safety and security

💖handmade creations

It's the perfect time to start a summer romance. Something fun and playful that also can go the distance, resulting in a long-lasting partnership. Prepare yourself to fall head over heels in love with yourself and all those around you. Pull out the summer linens and open-toe shoes because girls are single and ready to mingle!

Take some time to invest in yourself - get your nails done, wax your mustache, and put on something that makes you feel like the powerful being that you are. Oh, and don't forget to indulge in your favorite foods and listen to your favorite music! We are committed to our self-care right now, and that includes good eats and easy listening.

In honor of this big princess energy, I made a short playlist that I feel embodies the romantic and slowed-down essence of the transit. In the honor of the Pisces and Gemini energy present, I am also going to attach a fun upbeat playlist that brings me so much joy. Move your body to awaken your spirit and feel the vibration of the creative energy. It is your time!

gregarious gemini: a look into gemini szn ♊︎

We are officially in the throes of Gemini Szn! Happy birthday to all my fellow twins, this is our time! Gemini gets a bad rap for being two-faced when I would like to think of us as multidimensional, energetic, and youthful. We are the messengers of the zodiac, so we love sharing information. Sometimes we tend to have our foot in our mouth and can often flit from one thing to the next.

Always on the search for our other twin, we have the amazing ability to connect with people of all ages, from all walks of life. We know a bit about everything and are blessed with the gift of the gab. Being a social butterfly, you can count on a Gemini when you want to have a good time or someone to talk to about your latest find. In conjunction with all this lively and exciting energy that Gemini szn can bring, we are now entering mercury retrograde......IN GEMINI.

When this happens, the planet that is "in retrograde" deviates from its usual movement pattern

and appears to be moving backward.

During this time, things can get a little crazy. Mercury is the planet of communication,

and it governs the signs of Gemini and Virgo.

Gemini, in particular, rules communication, words, electronic devices,

automobiles, neighborhoods, and siblings.

When Mercury is in Rx the following events can occur:

💬 phone calls are dropped

💬 text messages are sent to the wrong person

💬 flights are delayed

💬 people are more accident-prone

💬 arguments over a miscommunication

💬 electronic devices start to act up

When people think of Mercury in retrograde, many tend to get a little frightened.

Although it can be an intense time, retrograde is here to help us understand things differently

or even better in some cases.

Because so many things can go wrong during this period, it is imperative to remember what

we should be doing during retrograde.

Retrogrades often point energy inwards and make things more internal rather than external. Mercury in retrograde wants us to slow down and reflect because

things are not always what they seem.

We should be reframing our usual thinking patterns, reviewing old ideas of perceiving

or understanding, and reflecting on our communication.

We are being led to visit particular people and situations that were once in our lives.

This feeling is emphasized with Mercury being in the sign of Gemini since it is

one of the most social and

people-oriented astrological signs.

The likelihood that someone from your past will come back or revisit you is highly likely. It could be a friend from elementary school, your old neighbor or

a family member.

You might tap back into old projects with a new perspective on how to approach them.

A blast from the past is the theme for this retrograde.

To add more excitement to this retrograde period,

Venus, the planet of love and beauty, is also in Gemini!

Jupiter, the planet of luck and expansion, is in its home in Pisces.

Mars, the planet of action and power, is in the watery and sensitive sign of Cancer.

With Venus in Gemini, we are given the space to enjoy the fun of variety

and embrace our inner childlike enthusiasm.

This Venus placement enjoys talking about everything under the sun,

playing like no one is looking, and constantly starting something new.

The opportunity to try something new or build a stronger foundation on skills that

you have is now available.

Gemini loves people so talking on the phone for hours and spontaneous reunions

are possible.

Jupiter has a lot of fun in Pisces bringing luck and expansion to our Piscean qualities of fantasy, creativity, intuition, and areas of devotion. As Jupiter blows things up, be careful when it comes to taking on more than you can handle. Pisces is super psychic and creative, but it is also a sign of self-victimization, escapism, and blurred lines. On the light end, we might watch some great movies, become obsessed with new music, or create some beautiful art. On the darker side, we can be more prone to overdoing it by finding ways to escape.

These can include:

💫 drinking too much alcohol
💫 smoking too much weed
💫 overspending on impulse buys
💫 spending too much time isolated from society
💫 trapping ourselves in a self-contained prison
💫 lack of attention to personal hygiene
💫 becoming victims of our own circumstance

Jupiter in Pisces can make us blind to our boundlessness, so have fun tapping into a bit of fantasy but remember to balance fantasy with reality.

Jupiter is in Pisces in my third house, which is interesting because that is the house ruled by Gemini. I am a double Gemini, so there is a lot of luck for me right now when it comes to working with technology, discovering new hobbies, reconnecting with old friends, and I might even get a new way of communicating and traveling.

Lastly, with Mars in Cancer, we can expect a bit of emotional turmoil. Mars is the planet of action and power. It is its fall in the watery, sensitive, and overprotective sign of Cancer. When a sign is its 'fall' it has a difficult time expressing itself spontaneously. Cancer is sensitive, nurturing, and empathetic. Cancer is ruled by the moon and is prone to mood swings as the moon moves very quickly. They are also known for protecting their hearts and caring for the people they love. As Cancer is the sign of the crab when in her element she provides a safe and secure home. Always dependable and fiercely attached to their fellow crabs. When she is feeling insecure or unsafe she can make herself a weapon, using her shell as armor, perpetually on the defense, always ready for a fight.

Mars in Cancer brings more intensity to emotional sensitivity and an eagerness to fight. We are more prone to extreme moodiness and mood swings. It is very important to stay on top of your impulses and be more mindful when controlling your anger. This can be a bit of a struggle but with patience, it is possible as Cancer is also extremely calculated. The likelihood of fights or tension with other women is at its peak with this transit. All of this energy is giving us more opportunities to see what is worth the fight.

Mars in Cancer wants us to connect with our roots, and strengthen our connection with our tribe. Get back in touch with those you love, not only family but also friends! Text someone you love, call, and do a wellness check on someone you haven't heard from in a while, maybe do a small dinner party with delicious drinks and rich desserts. We should also be intentionally cleaning up our home as Cancer is the ultimate homebody and wants a home where they feel safe and secure. After spending almost a year and a half inside, we might be inclined to move things around or get rid of all the impulse buys from earlier last year.

There is so much social and creative energy in the cosmos! We should take advantage of the energy the universe is providing us and make the best of it. The sun is shining, the weather is warm and the possibilities are infinite. Make this summer one to truly remember!

Neptune + Uranus on my TV

I know Netflix has been a nexus for streaming programs for a while now, but lately, it has become a bit over-saturated and underwhelming. I love Netflix and can appreciate how it changed the game for how we access entertainment but there are many other platforms with better original programs. Because I'm subscribed to many streaming platforms I decided not to watch any Netflix shows for a few months to see what else was out there. For a while I only went to Hulu to find new shows outside of Netflix but I only watched Bob's Burgers and Will & Grace.

I started my journey on Amazon Prime Video where I watched one of the best series that I have seen in my life, Steve McQueen's anthology series Small Axe. The series focuses on Black Caribbean British life in the '70s. Each episode details events that are culturally specific to West Indians in the UK, historic events that many people know nothing about. The series was a powerful love letter to West Indians from fellow West Indians. The first two episodes are my personal favorites. One is about a landmark case involving the Mangrove, a Caribbean restaurant in Notting Hill. The other takes place at a house party where young love blossoms, violence ensues, and a musical catharsis emerges. All of the episodes aired and every single person involved deserves an award. If I could sum it up in a few words it would be BLACK BRITISH EXCELLENCE.

I later teetered over to HBO to watch Lovecraft Country and Watchmen. In the "Age of Aquarius" where strange, weird, and futuristic are now the norm, Lovecraft Country and Watchmen fit directly in that mold. They are very Aquarian! Both shows explore time travel, monster, racial injustice, white violence, quests for identity, and inspired by books. The main protagonists are Black characters who are trying to make sense of their world. The monsters in these shows are not limited to literal monsters like giant squids, the mythological Korean Kumiho, and Lovecraftian shoggoths but the very real white supremacist. It is only in writing this that I realize how similar the shows are.

Before watching Lovecraft Country and Watchmen, I wasn't sure what either show was meant to be about. From what I remember about the promos, a lot was happening but nothing was revealed. What drew me to Lovecraft Country was knowing that JJ Abrams and Jordan Peele would be executive producers while the show's creator was a black woman named Misha Green. A team that I was more than excited to witness. In the case of Watchmen, HBO is a safe bet for a good show with great visuals because rarely do they ever disappoint. I am also a secret nerd and love comic book-based production. With the little that I knew, I was very excited for both shows.

What I can say was neither show disappointed. Of the two, Lovecraft Country was my favorite. I think part of the reason was that I would watch it weekly as the show premiered. The excitement and anticipation of waiting was a feeling I was not used to as I am very much a tv binger. I won't give anything away as it is a lot to explain but if you like weird fantasy with a twist of black history this show is for you. When it comes to Watchmen, it is another show I cannot explain because I not 100% sure I know what was going on. I think I would have to watch it a few more times. It also is under the umbrella of weird fantasy with a twist on black history. I think if you have watched one and then you are undoubtedly going to like the other.

Finally, I watched Why Women Kill on Paramount+. A show not concerned with race. Instead it focuses on what entices women to kill another. It tells the story of three different over three different decades who have lived in the same house in California. One a '50 housewife who finds out her husband is cheating on her, the second an '80s socialite who discovers her husband is gay, and the third a millennial bisexual lawyer with an open marriage.

This was right on time since I just watched a bunch of super intense shows, this was more comical and campy. Lucy Liu was rich, beautiful, and most likely a Leo. Ginnifer Goodwin plays the naïve delicate flower housewife. Kirby Howell-Baptise is the smart, sexy alpha woman dominating her husband. The show is funny, clever, and one that I would categorize as a pallet cleanser. I had only heard of this show the day before I watched it but the title was pretty self-explanatory so no guesses on what is going to be about.

Overall, I have had so much fun exploring new tv shows. Most of them have been home runs and programs that I highly recommend. I am not someone who likes to go outside of my comfort zone too much but this was an entertaining exercise that helped stretch my flexibility. With all the time we spend at home now in conjunction with Jupiter in Pisces there is no better time to explore the plethora of movies and shows out there to be enjoyed!
